Brief:

Produce a piece of design that will re-establish interest and enthusiasm for typographic detailing. One of the possible ways of doing this is to design a book edition that will illustrate how one can use type effectively, creatively and significantly. The book could, for example, show how a perfectly kerned set of characters, or the proper use of letter spacing or leading etc. can make all the difference. Each element of detailing you choose to show must be accompanied by an explanation of its application and usage which you yourself should write. 50% of your final design must be hand drawn, the other half can be set in letterpress, computer produced...

Solution:

A sequence that runs through the process of converting written information into a digital format to be sent to print.

Each computer display in the sequence represents a different design decision regarding typographic detail on a page:

Typing, type size, line length, tracking, leading, heading, alignment, text indent, composition and kerning.
